I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

I wonder if all those little bits sticking up are stems that lost their leaves?

Well, the snow wasn’t very deep, and those are blades of grass. But we had about 2 inches of snow and lots of wind, making that leaf twirl around and around.

Brrr! How many inches deep is this? I don’t see any paw prints, so I guess walking Miss Penny might be out of the question?

It was only an inch or so…but very cold! I stopped Penny from walking through there when I saw the leaf and it’s scrapped pattern. These cold mornings I encourage her to just go do her job and not take a lot of time. Still…she’s a big time sniffer around the yard so nothing goes as fast as I’d like.

A pretty picture. Do you suppose the swirls around the stem are because the leaf turned in circles?

Yes, that’s exactly what happened. I saw it while Penny and I were out, and I kept her from walking through there until I could get the picture. She thought I was nuts. I might be.

That is so cool! I love that we see the pattern as well as the leaf.

Michigan – where you can have two seasons clashing, sometimes the same day. Nothing says bleak like a dead leaf stuck in the snow.

I love it! You noticed and saw the beauty in something most of us would’ve just walked by.
