I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

I was standing around waiting for a particular bird to appear when I noticed the sun on this leaf and it looked so beautiful and I was getting cold and bored standing still so I shot it. Not literally shot…but you know. The tree isn’t an oak, but the tall trees surround it are, so this leaf drifted down and got caught there, just to entertain me.

It’s hanging, caught in the branches of a little tree not in it’s family. It managed to shine in the winter sun and I thought it deserved an image of it’s own.

Yes, it’s an oak leaf that drifted down and was caught in the branches of a smaller tree, saved from being crushed underfoot on the trail, and celebrated by the sun.

The one leaf is hanging there despite all the wicked winds we’ve had the past few months, not to mention the snow and freezing rain – that sun gives it a nice backdrop.

Yes, we were lucky last Friday to have sun on and off as we wandered looking for birds. I thought the leaf deserved an image as well, because it made me smile.
