I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

My cats go on high alert watching the birds and squirrels in our backyard. They would claw their way out the window if they saw deer. I would be totally mesmerized. How wonderful is this?!

Pretty wonderful. Penny is not sure whether to be mesmerized or outraged. Usually some of both.

She’s very watchful but she’s letting them get further away from her now. She has 2x let me go out on the deck to take pictures without running off. She tolerates Penny barking inside. The youngsters are trying out all the garden stuff to see what they like to eat. So far they like to eat everything.

Wow, they’re as still as statues! Poor Penny must’ve been beside herself, seeing this bunch in her yard. I know the Monk would still be barking!

They are well behaved fawns (except when they’re eating one of my plants). If mom doesn’t move, nobody moves.

Most years we have one family that hangs around. A few years ago there were triplets and no mom. The 3 hung around together, played in the back yard of most of us in the neighborhood. We all loved seeing them. Perhaps mom, here, is one of those 3.

I’ll bet you’re right – they remembered it was a safe haven for them. My friend in New York feeds and has shelter boxes for feral cats and has done this for many years. Every time the mama cat has a new litter of kittens, she brings them to Carol’s house. She has tried for years to capture her to get her spayed to no avail.

Yes, I took quite a few pictures. She even let me go out on the deck so I wasn’t shooting through a window. I can’t remember if this shot was from inside or outside. She’s very careful, but I think she trusts me to a degree.

This photo could have been taken in our front yard. We have a deer momma and her twins living with us, too.
