Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

pictures 001 This morning I was looking at the calendar, checking to see when I need to be at work today.  Katie was wandering around between my feet as usual, because…well…that’s what Katie does.  Absentmindedly I picked her up while I studied my work schedule for next week.  I shifted her in my arms and realized that she was staring intently at the picture attached to the calendar.  Because of course my calendar would feature shelties.  And she was very interested in the two representing September.  I know that on occasion she will notice a dog on TV, but I mostly thought that was about the sound.  But here she was very obviously studying the photo of two pretty shelties.   It’s a cool calendar.  A couple of months ago I thought the photo sort of looked like Ludo and Katie.  pictures 002

I’m going to go visit a friend next weekend, up on a Great Lake.  To get in the spirit (as if I needed to!) I’ve been painting a scene from my visit there last fall.

And of course the neighbors are still getting their new roof.  Katie and I spend a lot of time watching.  Just to make sure everything gets done correctly, don’t you know.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. It’s very important that the roof is just right, if it looks out of place then Katie will be constantly “telling” them it isn’t right. You know shelties are VERY sheltie orientated. Reilly is the same, if he sees or hears a sheltie on the TV he stands intently staring at it, other dogs not so much. If we go somewhere and there is a group of dogs….he will always go straight to another sheltie if there is one there. For some reason sheltie to sheltie bonds are very strong.

  2. It does look like Katie & Ludo, however Katie and Ludo are both much better looking! Certainly worthy of being calendar dogs themselves.

Misty & Katie appear to have similar job descriptions. Exhausting work I suppose, but very rewarding.

  3. We didn’t know that you paint – how cool! I bet it’s a lot of fun. Do you use watercolors?

Katie and Ludo are more beautiful than the calendar dogs!

  4. Yes I think we should put together a calendar of all our dogs, they are ALL much more photogenic than the ones in the commercial calendars!

I sort of mess around with painting water colors. It’s really hard and sometimes I think I should switch to something else, but I have all this MONEY invested in water color stuff…and I keep thinking I’ll figure it out! LOL! It IS a lot of fun regardless. I took an “experimental watercolor” class that got me somewhat over the fear of just trying stuff. I recommend community ed art classes highly!

  5. Several years ago my sisters put together a calander of Essex for me for a Essex-mas present. It was pawsome. Only one picture didn’t have Essex, probably because it was takene in the early 60s. No Deacon, because he wasn’t whelped yet.

    Great Calander though.

    Dog Dad.

  6. I, too, have lots of paints. So perhaps we will do that when you come! Or simply photograph! I’m on my way back north today…
