The story is that my mom was very pregnant with my sister on dad’s birthday and she didn’t feel up to making a cake. So she made him meatloaf and “frosted” it with mashed potatoes. My sister was born the next day. I think my sister was actually Dad’s best birthday present ever. Even if she was one day late.
Happy birthday sweetie! I know you’re having a good day today substituting for a band director in middle school. How cool is that! Didn’t we always want to be the leader of the band? Well, today, on your birthday, you get to actually do it! That has just got to be something that was meant to be. Have fun!
And I want to hear all about it tonight!

Happy Birthday to your sister! I like the meatloaf story! 🙂
Thanks for asking how we are – it is snowing heavily and mom and dad are waiting to see if the Symphony will cancel tonight’s concert. They are afraid they’ll have to go and play (probably to an empty house) and then when the temperature goes below freezing (it’s 34 now) the roads will be way worse and everyone will have to drive home in that. Crazy!

Meatloaf for our barkday sounds better than a cake. Your sister was ahead of her time. BOL. Hope she had a pawsome barkday.

Well – we played the concert for about 200 people. Diehard fans! The hall seats around 3000. We repeat the concert tonight so we could’ve canceled and everyone could’ve just come today. Any way we got there and back ok so now that’s over! Shostakovich Piano Concert #2 and Shostakovich Symphony #10 – very powerful piece!
