Some of you have figured out that I successfully imported my old blog into this blog. You got a message that there were over 1000 posts to read! 🙂 I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t want to read all 1000 again. Really? No? Well…some were led down that path…and have commented on posts from a year ago when we were in California.
I wish we had been able to go back out there again this year, but no, we’re still here in Michigan.
Meanwhile, change is coming here as well…at least in the weather department. Not too far north of us they have had snow. And last night we got our first hard frost which killed the tomatoes and the dahlias.
I’m so glad I cut most of the blossoms yesterday, so they’re in my kitchen now and I’m enjoying the last of their beautiful colors for a bit longer.
The leaves are changing faster and faster here too. They are absolutely stunning! I was worried that we wouldn’t get any fall color because we had so little rain this summer. But once again I was wrong.
It’s beautiful at work on my lunch walks, and it is beautiful around home too. I have so many photos. Every year I think the trees are the most beautiful they’ve ever been and I take more photos.
This year was no exception

The trees are so beautiful where you are! Just starting here. We had 36 this morning so we escaped a hard freeze for now.

I love fall! The colors are so amazing, and there is just something wonderful about NEEDING to put on a sweatshirt.
Your dahlias are beautiful!

Our furnace came on this morning! But the drive to Northport this morning and back home later in the day was gorgeous. Do you sometimes take “the long way home”? Dahlias. I’ve never had them but am thinking about them for next year. Any advice?

PJ – They are really easy to grow, but they come up late in the spring and don’t hit their stride and start blooming till late in the summer…even fall…so I’d put them somewhere somewhat protected, or where you could cover them for your first couple of frosts so you don’t lose the blooms so soon up there. I think it’s worth it though..they’re so beautiful.

It is nice not to loose all those memories …a good reminder that its time for a back up again. I wish we had some pretty fall colors….it hasn’t got cool enough yet for them to change around here…..not that we are complaining…..mid 70’s all week is pretty nice.

Oh what a good idea to have cut the dahlias! We had our first frost last night and now the few dahlias I had are crumbled and drooping, wish I’d thought of it. I picked a few green tomatoes in hopes of them ripening. You do have some lovely fall colors. I’m hoping to go find some too – maybe today!

“The air glows gold.” How beautiful. I love this autumn smell when the leaves have mostly fallen down and there are still some gold leaves shimmering on the branches.
