I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

Dawn, I just LOVED seeing you and Katie-girl in the ring — what an outstanding performance! She watched your every move. Sigh. Must take a lot of practice for a pup to do that. Mine, I’m afraid, isn’t up to the challenge (he’d much rather sniff the other dogs, greet all the strange people, and hunt for squirrels, haha!)

Ha…..I would put money on the fact that DD could be a star too….it does take a lot of time and practice…but you and Dawn have SHELTIEs…and everyone knows (n the dog show world) that they have star quality…. Sorry just had to chime in…I’m bad that way…Really we should all do lunch. I, of-course have a terrier….very smart without an ounce of desire to please me unless it pleases her first…..it’s a challenge. 😀

Kb, DD is a star, he just doesn’t have the titles to prove it! I wish I knew how many words and gestures he already knows and understands — I swear, this dog practically can spell, haha!

I think DD could do this too. Treats, treats, treats! It LOOKS like she just adores me, but she really is hoping for a treat! 🙂

Great Job. Really Great job!! Girlfriend, there is no reason this pup can’t go all the way…in rally but also in standard Obedience (I’m not sure what non-rally is called these days) I can easily see her getting her UD title. Yes….the out of sight stays could be an issue and I know you help hold her confidence together but this girl is a worker and a pleaser. Great attention! I could gush more…so ask me anytime.

We’re thinking about trying obedience next before we go to excellent rally.

That was awesome Dawn and Katie! You did so well….rally superstars 🙂 that was a tricky course too…especially with the exciting jump at the start.

You two are such a great team! Really, really nice job and especially considering how unsettling things got for Katie right before you went in the ring. Way to not only recover, but excel!

She settles down pretty quick once she gets her ‘work’ mindset.

Great job! I don’t think I ever saw something like this before where there were all those stations and you have to get the dog to sit and lay down, etc…. Katie looked so cute watching you and focusing on what you wanted her to do. It was very interesting to watch. You both were great.

Thanks guys! It’s a fun, relatively calm thing to do with your dog…sort of an intro to obedience.

Oh Katie!! We wish we knew you were going to be at the show! We blogged about it on Dakota’s blog! We would have gone to meet you! We are only about 15 minutes away! Last year Mom went but this year she didn’t! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

Go Katie! She really was attentive and focused. Rally looks like a nice sport. It’s a shame we don’t have more in my part of the world. But then we don’t have much of anything in the North West!
