I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

There was what was obviously a couple..then another big swan flew in and the male (I assume) of the couple chased the new swan around and they were both charging each other, necks straight up, wings flapping, feet paddling the water..finally the original guy chased the other one off.

Cool stuff!
Can you believe that NYS DEC is planning on killing all the swans in our state over the next few years? It makes me so sad. They are such majestic creatures.

Great photos, Dawn! Talk about being in the right place at the right time — AND having a camera along, too!

This is their explanation: “swans can cause a variety of problems, including aggressive behavior towards people, destruction of submerged aquatic vegetation, displacement of native wildlife species, degradation of water quality, and potential hazards to aviation. ”
I think their plan is awful.

Wow! Swans are such beautiful birds. Messy and maybe not too friendly, but beautiful to look at. Great captures. 🙂
