I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. So many hungry birdies — thank you for feeding them!

    • They empty this feeder at least once a day. When it’s been so cold I’ve been out a couple times a day making sure they have something to eat and drink. Today it’s in the 50s and hardly any birds have come by.

  2. this photo is a great abstract composition, with similar shapes intertwined and interconnecting. light and dark in a dance of happiness and abundance. thanks Dawn!

    • I liked it too. When we first noticed this feeder was swarming with birds I tried to get a picture, but every time I picked up the camera and moved toward the windows Katie the dog would assume there was something out there and go leaping on the chair barking. Of course the birds scattered. So I lured her to another part of the house with treats and then grabbed this shot.

  3. I agree with Bess. I wasn’t quite sure what I was seeing at first. Now that I know, I also know where all the goldfinches are! I haven’t seen any here this winter. Usually there are mobs of them at the thistle feeder, but there hasn’t been so much as one. It’s weird.

    • If I were looking at this on a phone it might well look like an abstract painting. I’ll have to go see what it looks like on a smaller screen. Meanwhile, if I see any goldfinches today I’ll tell them to go visit you!

  4. I love this picture! Wow, very cool composition (as Bess pointed out above). Our birds have strangely mostly disappeared after the latest cold stretch. Even though we kept putting out food.

    • Today I have hardly any birds, but they’ve been around up till today. I guess they’ll be back when it gets cold again. I liked the composition and light too. The light was what attracted me to grab the camera this particular day. Then I cropped it till I thought it was most interesting. You can see some detail but have to guess at other details. I liked that about it too.
