Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Feeling a bit suspicious

Katie here. I had to borrow daddy’s ‘puter cause I can’t find mama’s laptop. To be truthful, I can’t find mama either.

Morning

But I don’t want to admit I’ve lost her. After all, it’s my job to know where she is all the time. And trust me it’s not easy, especially with my propensity to nap and her propensity to wander. Mama’s always moving around on me. I rest my eyes and when I open them again she’s in some other part of the house.

Only this time I looked in all her favorite places and I can’t find her!

Clouds

I think she’s playing hide and seek with me, and I think she seriously needs to cut it out! There must be a secret room somewhere in this house, and I’m going to find it.

Right after I rest my eyes.

Barn

So anyway, it’s a good thing I can find my dad. He’s been really good about taking me on walks and making my supper and stuff. But I still wonder where mama is.

Visitor

Hey! I just had a thought! Do you think she’s off adventuring without me? No, that can’t be it. Mama would never leave me behind.

She’s not off taking pictures of stuff that’s not me is she?

Artsy-fartsy

Making new friends?

Horses

Exploring new places? Or…..no this couldn’t possibly be it….she’s not off exploring some of my favorite places without me.

Road

Is she?

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. How funny, the pictures match the story of her looking over hill and over dale for her wandering mother!

    • Ms Jamie, daddy says I should just give up on mama, that she’ll come home when she feels like it. But I think she’s been away so long that she won’t remember how to get home. I am very very sad.

  2. Nah, she can’t be. She’d never explore nor take photos without you. Uhm, but those are mighty nice photos on this post. Wonder where they came from? Doesn’t look like how I assume Michigan looks today. Perhaps? Nah. Couldn’t be…

  3. Oh no, Katie, your mom wouldn’t adventure without you! She’s off recharging her batteries, which you would find very boring and would interfere with your naps. Take my word for it, you’re so much better off at home with your dad for now.

  4. Ah Katie, it’s really hard trusting hoomans not to leave you out of fun adventures! I think you will have to have a serious talk with your Mama when you find her. 🙂

  6. No, Katie. Your mama just found a really great hiding place, though, didn’t she? Those are some great photos you posted, too. Weirdly, there are none of you. What’s up with that??!!

  8. Hi, Katie!

Your post made me smile! I am not smiling because you are worried about your mama, I was happy to see your post. Glad that your dad let you use his computer. Maybe mama’s pictures are a clue as to where she might be….
Mama should be home soon! I’m sure that she is missing her sweet Princess! 😊

The cloud pictures are so cool!

  9. Not to worry. Mom is out having fun taking beautiful photos. She’ll be back with lots of loves.

  10. I rather like the idea of a secret closet … one you’ve never found before, Katie. You don’t think your mama slipped through that closet into a Narnia-like world, do you?? I puzzles me how she managed to get such cool pictures though, especially when I know Michigan is bound to be covered in snow right now. Hmmm, these must be from one of her previous trips. Yeah, I’ll bet that’s it. My best suggestion? Stay close to your daddy and, when your mama finally shows up, sniff her real good and see if you can figure out where she was (then insist on LOTS of cookies to make up for it!)

  12. Adventuring without you? I cannot imagine that could possibly be the case. Perhaps another nap is what you need to make sense of it all!

  13. Wow! Those photos were stunning! Katie, you obviously have taught your momma to take excellent pictures, probably starting with pictures of you! Momma will be home soon I’d bet. I always take a nap when I’m puzzled by something, it seems to help.

    • I guess I’ll take another nap, Ms. Ann. I do that to, takes naps to puzzle out mystery. So far I’ve taken about a million, gazillion naps, though, and no mama. I might have to just live on the memories, I don’t think she loves me any more.
