Katie here! HEY! Whatcha doing, whatcha doing, whatcha doing?

As you can see I am feeling a lot better. Whatcha doing? Oh…excuse me, sometimes I get distracted. I don’t suppose you happen to have a treat for me? No? Did you check your back pocket? Oh. Well anyway.
Ahem….

So mama and daddy are trying to get me to eat this KD food stuff. I’m back to eating regular dog food, kibble and wet food, and I’m pretty excited about it. Food used to be one of my mostest wonderful, bestest favorite stuff in the whole world.
And then I got sick and food wasn’t so good anymore and everybody got worried. But this past month I’ve eaten more and now, just in the past week I’m back to asking for more food, more treats, more everything!

But just to keep things interesting sometimes I don’t eat all my supper. I was never like that, I never left even one smidgen of food in my bowl in case someone else came along and stole it, you know.
Now when they give me wet food I might eat some of it, generally with not much gusto, but mama and daddy have figured something out. If they put a fresh pea, pressed into the food, I gobble it up!

Seriously, a pea.
Sometimes they add several peas to my meal, sometimes it’s just one pea. Either way, it always works and I clean my bowl right up. And then I lick the bowl to make sure it’s super clean.

If that’s not proof I’m a Princess I don’t know what is.
See you later, your Princess and her pea, Katie-girl.

She’s eating now, and eating the KD food too. But she’s in early kidney disease…so time is not infinite. On the other hand, she’s 14 years and 7 months…so she’s had a pretty good life so far. We’re going to make whatever time we have left with her really good.

Toward the end, one of my dogs enjoyed vanilla ice cream and shortbread cookies. So Lorna Doone cookies and Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream always remind me of Muffin.

She likes her veggies. She’s eating her KD food without peas now, but I have some left in reserve in case she changes her mind. A princess is always allowed to change her mind.

We had a boxer that loved veggies so much he would steal broccoli off of the counter… Anyway, glad she is on food without the peas, but, as you say, a princess is allows allowed to change her mind.

Dawn, I’m so glad to hear your Katie is doing better! I still follow your blog and know it’s been rough of late.
Funny: I had some fresh peas from the garden and I gave a few to my pooches, and….doggone it! if they didn’t gobble them up! So I sometimes mix a few in the grub. So far no troubles eating, but it doesn’t hurt to jazz it up.
Have a great rest-of-the-summer, Katie-girl!!

We’re hoping for a calmer rest of the summer. Unfortunately her kidney #s are high, so we have to go back to the vet in another month. Again. Sigh.

Katie looks amazing and it’s great to hear that shes on the rebound. Our older dog loves vegetables – cooked broccoli, cauliflower, and peas, yes peas. I am the feeder (and dog poop picker upper) and I will add to their kibble with chicken broth or vegetable leftovers if I have it. She loves here peas, too. The young one still is developing her palate!

Katie loves almost all vegetables, except raw brocolli. She and Bush #1 don’t eat that one.

She’s definitely eating now, and as of THIS week, doesn’t even require peas to eat her KD food. (for kidney). However, her kidney #s show that she’s at probably stage 2 of kidney disease. So….sigh…

The princess and the peas!! Love you Katie! I have an older dog and we add pumpkin puree to his dog food. It’s good fiber and he LOVES it and it helps him clean his bowl most days! Warm hugs to you sweet girl!! 💜

She used to like pumpkin, but then she didn’t. Now that she’s eating again she’d probably like it again. But since she’s eating I’m not messing with anything!

Katie, there is absolutely NO DOUBT you’re a Princess!! I’m glad you’re feeling better and eating again. We humans worry when our fur-kids won’t eat, especially if they’ve always been “chow hounds.” Dallas used to have peas, green beans, or carrots mixed into his food … and he loved it. Might not hurt to ask your mom to get out the grater!!

She’s definitely eating better now, and the KD food that she hated last month. As long as she’s willing to eat it we can hope we’re doing the best we can for her. She is probably in stage 2 of kidney disease now…so we’re trying to make her happy however we can.

Hi sweet Katie! Seeing your post made me smile. I am so glad that you are feeling a bit better and are enjoying your food and treats. Better to have delicious fresh peas in your dinner bowl than in your bed!! You look adorable wearing your cone. Did you know? In the 16th & 17th century a ruff, a crimped or pleated collar, was popular. The largest ruffs were worn by the aristocracy. Your cone is befitting a princess! Sending gentle pats and a kiss for your head, and hugs for your mama and daddy.

Katie has been having some health issues, but so far she’s still hanging in here. I hope you guys are doing OK!
