I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.
Very smart to hunker down right now. Great that you have such a beautiful home and yard. The same is true for us. Our home is modest but cozy, and we live on the edge of the woods.
I enjoy what little ‘woods’ we have around here. They built three houses in the woods behind our lot. Good thing our lot is deep, but it still seems odd to look out there and see lights at night.
I’m all for snow for Christmas, but can do without it otherwise. Your yard is lovely, and the tree with the lights making snow glow is so full of holiday spirit to me. Kat and I will be driving to Portland tomorrow to bring Geoff home with us – his flight comes in after dark, and the weather forecast is iffy, so we’ll spend the night and drive home during daylight hours on Tuesday. Our hotel room will be our fortress, with dinner delivered.
Yes, this is the only place she’s lived, other than her first mother’s house (her breeder). I was thinking about that the other day as we were walking back up the driveway after one of her many walks. How this has always been her house, and always will be.
Hunkering down can be cozy. You guys are getting some snow too down in the Lower this year. The tree is gorgeous. And it goes without saying that Katie is.
Yes, we got some really pretty snow at Thanksgiving which then melted, and again last week. It will be gone by Christmas I think, but I’m OK with that. In fact I’d be OK if that were it for the season but I know there will be more.
I like to be safe and warm at home, so hunkering down sounds ideal. Perhaps an extra treat for Katie seeing as she is so cute. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
She says she likes you. We haven’t been giving her treats since she got sick last April. She says that is a violation of her contract. So we started giving her green peas. So far she hasn’t noticed it’s a vegetable, not a treat. Don’t tell her.
Yes, it’s so important for you to stay safe. This is not the way I envisioned my retirement, that’s for sure, but I feel lucky that we are here in a pretty place and we are relatively healthy. Have a good Christmas!
What lovely photos! Especially the pretty Christmas lights in the snow and the gorgeous Princess in her Santa hat! Yes, even vaccinated and boosted, I’d agree it’s a good time to hunker down a bit.
We’ve had all 3 shots, one of the times it was lucky we are old, we got to get our shots right away, each time they were available. Still…it seems safer to just stay home.

It’s gotten crazy (crazier) again. Glad you are hunkered down. Your girl looks adorable. Santa always picks the best little helpers.

She doesn’t like to think of herself as a helper. She’s more that Santa Supervisor type.

She is having a string of good days, and we are all grateful. She wore the hat grudgingly.

That seems the smart thing to do right now, and you have a beautiful wintry place to hunker down in with a beautiful princess to keep you company. 🙂
