Cee’s B&W challenge: Capturing the Photographer

Watching an osprey build her nest on a cold early morning.

I was at Kensington wandering around looking for birds while this photographer was stationed in one spot watching one subject. I’m a bit envious of his equipment, but I think I had more fun.

Thanks, Cee for hosting these black and white challenges!

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Nice! I always enjoy photos of photographers taking photos.

    • There were 3 of them there, 2 down closer to the water. I sat up on the road and shot the nest from my car. Lazy me. He waved at me as I drove off. The osprey had flow further away, too far for my camera, into a tree. I think this photographer was going to wait for her to come back. I didn’t get any good images of her but she was fun to watch.

  2. Now that is a camera with a very expensive lens. Great capture and find. I would love to see the nest being built too.

  3. It is intriguing to capture a photo of someone photographing. Yours looks especially good in black and white.

  4. You know, ink that equipment might weigh more than Monkey!! Glad you had more fun — you can invest in this kind of equipment, but you can’t buy FUN!

    • I thin his equipment probably DOES weigh more than Monkey! I wouldn’t want to lug it around. I’d like to LOOK through it to see what it does, but unless I have someone to carry it, I’m not interested in owning it!

  5. That might cause me some momentary lens envy, but I’m like you, I have to be able to move around!
