I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

I know. For just a moment the sun came out and these two were sitting in a puddle of light.

Aren’t they? I love it when the sun comes out and the birds stand still long enough to get a shot.

Amazing detail!! And Cardinals aren’t easy to capture because they’re so shy … and FAST!!

Yes, they were expecting a treat, so came flying up to me and sat expectantly on a branch that happened to be in a small bit of sunlight!

Thank you. They wanted something to eat so were sitting there waiting for me to get done shooting. Of course I left them something.

I didn’t know Cardinals had whiskers, or maybe they are eyelashes. Wow.

Thank you! They flew up the path toward me and landed right about at my shoulder. In a patch of sun! It was magic.

I know! Aren’t the feathers wonderful! Most birds have this kind of detail if they’d just hang still long enough to get a focused shot!
