Snowy baby pictures

Hey Peeps, Penny here. You don’t mind being called Peeps, do you, cause I think of you all as my people! Yep, every single one of you. Mom says you can never have too many Peeps, and since I’m just a baby still, I’m taking her word for it.

Speaking of baby, mom took a bunch of pictures of me a thousand weeks ago when we had lots of snow, and she’s hardly shared any of them! Mom says she doesn’t have time to sort pictures cause she’s running around making sure I’m happy.

Personally I think she needs to hone her time management skills, in fact, as I recall my sister Katie told me this very same thing. Mom gets tied up with too many things and stresses out. Katie and I both suggest she just focus on the puppy all the time. I think mom’s stress level would lower right away if she did that.

What do you guys think?

Any-hoo, I’ve been bugging her (my most important job as new puppy in this household) to post my baby snow pictures before the daffodils bloom. I understand once the yellow flowers start showing up I’ll have to do a lot of modeling, and it would be embarrassing to still be working through snow pictures. Bad for my modeling career, you know, to be so far behind.

So far I’m still sleeping through the night and I’m mostly house trained. I can sit when asked but I’m not going to stay. No siree, there’s no stopping this girl when I get moving, and I’m mostly moving all the time.

Mom puts me in a timeout if I get overly excited or if I’m cranky. It’s not so bad, I have a big cushy bed in there, and some of my toys and a water bowl, so I don’t really mind going into my timeout pen. My Auntie calls it my rest stop. I do mostly fall asleep in there, so it’s a good place for me.

And when I wake up mom or daddy take me outside right away. I love my yard, but there’s a lot of presents from the resident deer out there that are apparently off limits. I don’t know why, I think they smell fabulous! Sometimes mom and daddy are no fun.

So this is my life right now. No parks quite yet, no walks with friends (I don’t even know if I have any friends!), no visits to the store, no adventures unless you call a sedate walk down the driveway and back an adventure.

WAIT! I DID have an adventure!

Mom promised me one last Friday and I was sort of excited. Not a lot excited because, never having had an adventure, I wasn’t even sure what an adventure was, but kind of excited. We ended up at the VET! And they stuck me twice!! I’m gonna check with Katie, but I’m pretty sure this is not what she was talking about when she told me about all the fun she had going on adventures.

Well, Peeps, I’ll sign off for now. Time to get a little shuteye in my rest stop. If you can, please poke mom for me (I do plenty of that but a girl can’t be poking constantly, it’s not lady-like) and see if you can prod her into taking me on a real adventure soon.

I’m counting on you,

Your adventure-girl, Unstoppable Penny.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  2. Pretty Penny, I think we need to sit down – yes, sit down, but only for a few minutes – and have a little talk. I mean, Mom loves you very much, and wants to take you on adventures, but she has to know that you can behave like a good girl when you go on adventures. Which means you will have to sit and actually stay sometimes, which I know can be hard but it’s just how it is. And sometimes Moms have things they need to do that do not involve puppies, hard as that is to believe. Yes, you need to keep Mom and Dad in line, but sometimes you have to give them a break to do other things too. Because you’re Pretty Penny and getting to be a big girl now.

  3. You were right to nudge your mom into sharing these snow pics. While the daffodils are in bloom would have been way too late. Plus, who knows just how much you will have grown by then!
I’m sure you’ll be going on adventures soon enough. Something tells me you’ll be going on LOTS of adventures!

  4. Look at you jump, little Penny! Whew! I hope mom and dad take a rest when you do.
I am fascinated by her ears, Dawn. It looks like she has a headband on. Is that a characteristic of the breed?

  6. I really like the “Super-Penny” photo. OK, the first of two of them. I sometimes get photos of airborn pups, but that is a lot of air…

    • That IS a lot of air. She can jump really high, which might end up being an issue someday when she figures out how to get stuff off the kitchen counter. So far she mostly springs straight up when she’s excited. She’s not really jumping up on the sofa yet and she’s still afraid to go down stairs.

  10. Hi Penny! I am one of your peeps I am suggesting that you be patient with your mom. I think in time you’ll have her wrapped around one of your toes, or maybe a paw. With your cute face, she will melt like an ice cube on a hot day. But mom and dad are teaching you so you, will have some manners when you make new friends. For now just enjoy every experience..

  11. Hi Penny! Thank you so much for getting your mama to share these photos! I love all of them, but especially the leaping one. It sounds like you are in what I call the “on/off stage”. You are either ON or OFF, nothing in between.

Yes, you need a true adventure soon! Vet does NOT count😀

  13. Miss Penny, you’re such a PRETTY girl! And I so love your leaping photos … and the ones with snow on your nose. I’m honored to be called your peep, and I do love it when you post. Reminds me of Monkey’s early days (minus the diarrhea, of course!). But here’s something you’ve gotta know — your mom and dad love you sooo much that they really can’t take you on adventures right now. You see, little puppies don’t have all their immunity from bad sicknesses yet (until they get their shots), and they don’t want you to get sick. Just wait — you’ll go on plenty of adventures as soon as your vet gets you properly protected. And your peeps will enjoy them through your eyes!

  20. Hi Penny, great snow baby pictures! Next year when it snows, you’ll be all grown up. Hopefully, you’ll get to go on some wonderful adventures this summer.

    • Hi Miss Helen! Nope I won’t be a baby next winter, so mom was really glad to get some snow baby pictures this year, since I’ve only been here a little more than a month! Mom is wishing it would warm up so we can get adventuring! Seems like spring is taking a long time to arrive, but I LOVE the snow and cold, so I told her not to rush summer!
