So, once again, you may have detected a noted lack of Penny posts here on my mom’s blog.
I guess I shouldn’t feel all that bad. She didn’t even tell you that she went to Washington DC 10 days ago, did she. Nope. Obviously you guys aren’t top tier friends either. (I’m JOKING!!!)

Mom says it’s just that she’s really busy and hasn’t had time to write about every little thing. Every little thing? I ask you. Am I a little thing??

Actually I’m a quite large thing. I’m oversized for a sheltie, bigger than Katie was, but mom says that just means there’s more of me to love!

And did I tell you that she and I snuggle just about every single morning, most of the time with me sitting on top of her? Yea. I guess Mom is OK after all.

Anyway.
I’m supposed to tell you that Mom and Debbie over at Domer Mom have decide that we will in fact have a Walktober this year, and Mom will collect all your links on her blog and do a summary post at the end.

Mom said I need to hurry up and announce it since October is knocking on our door. Wait a minute, I have to go bark hysterically cause that’s what I do when anyone knocks on our door!
….OK. I’m back…

Mom says I can pick the official Walktober dates, because I’m really smart and she likes to keep me engaged. Otherwise I’m off doing stuff she doesn’t want me to do, but that’s another post.

So I think the official dates for the 2024 Walktober will be October 17 through October 31st. That way you have two weeks to plan and two full weeks to go on your walk (or ride, or jog, or drive, or skip or hop) and blog about it!

Of course, if you need to do yours a little early that’s fair, and if you need an extra couple days at the end just let us know. Mom will put everything together in her blog in early November.

And she says to tell you she’ll do an official kickoff to Walktober near or on October 17th so that you can all link to that post when you do yours!
Mom says if you have any questions just ask. She and I will do our best to answer and explain better. My excuse for rambling is that I’m not even two yet! So I get distracted easily.
Squirrel!

Pictures in this post are from several walks Mom and I have been on lately, cause daddy has been doing scary noisy things in the basement. Heck I didn’t even know we HAD a basement until now! Daddy says when it’s finished I’ll get to explore down there! Too bad it won’t be done by the end of October or I’d take you on a tour for my Walktober!

HEY MOM! MOM! MOMOMOMOMOMOMOMOMOM!!!! Where am I going to take the nice people on my Walktober? You better figure it out soon! It’s a priority, mother!

Signing off for now,
Your Walktober Ambassador,
Penny the Hiking Dog

Oh, Penny, what a GOOD job you’ve done on announcing Walktober!! And I love all your pictures, too — especially the ones with the side eye and the tongue! Monk, too, is larger than a typical Sheltie. He doesn’t weigh as much as Dallas did, but his legs are longer. He’s so pretty, everybody wants to call him Lassie (which he hates!!) I think you did just fine with the dates, too — two weeks to plan and two to act/post. Yup, sounds about right. Thanks for the mention — now, I’d better get busy and do walks for Monk and me!

Well, I weigh a consistent 26 pounds, Ms. Debbie. How much does Monk weigh? I have long legs too, and my body is longer than Katie’s was. She weighed about 20 pounds.
I don’t know where I’m going to do my Walktober. I’m still just a baby you know, so I need Mom to decide where to go, but she’s waffling. If you ask me she waffles a lot. I wish she’d MAKE waffles…but no….

Mr. Monk weighs about 35 lbs., but he’s nearly 19 inches at the shoulder, too. He’s way bigger than most Shelties, but his groomer and his vet agree he’s not overweight. Just a LOT of dog — more for Mama to love, ha!

Penny– you are a hilarious Walktober Ambassador. I see so many dogs walking their humans past my house to the park up the street. I should follow them to see where they go for their walks. Then we could have Walkdogtober! I hope you get treats for keeping us all up to date on things.

Oh! I’m too young to think of demanding treats for my reporting skills. Huh. Katie never would have made that rookie mistake.

Thank you! I think I am getting prettier every day. Mom thinks so too, on the days I’m being good. The other days? Well, those days she’s sort of overwhelmed.

She is just cute. She is full of energy, it shows in her eyes. Smart, dog, very playful I guess.

Penny, how nice to see you back and zipping off a post to us. I hope you will be featured in Mom’s “Walktober” post – of course you will or you wouldn’t have made this announcement. It seems like Mom was just photographing you in the yellow “flowers” and now it will be with the yellow leaves as a backdrop.

I know, Ms. Linda! I have barely figured out how to pose and now it’s time to do the fall photoshoot. So Mom says. I understand that Katie got to do her own Walktober, totally separate from Mom’s walk. So that’s what I’ll be demanding too. Of course that makes Mom go on TWO walks, but between you and me she could use some extra steps. You know what I mean?

Penny, your beautiful coloring will blend in nicely with the Fall leaves, so definitely get your own “Walktober” walk AND post – heck, start a new trend and make it a whole new blogging category. Except Mom would have to help you – less walks and fun, so maybe don’t push too hard for that to happen. P.S. – don’t be mean to Mom or it will come back to bite you on the tail!

Loved these photos! I rarely bring my phone on walks (that’s how I take photos), but maybe I will try and make it a point to take Levi to a local park for one of our walks and try and get some good shots.
