Wordless Wednesday – Robin in November

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  3. Goodness, you just shocked me. I frantically looked for my calendar. “Phew, it’s Tuesday.” You woke me up my friend. 🙂

  4. I haven’t seen many robins of late — wonder why that is? However, I have seen jays and the little guys (wrens, etc.) Oh, and plenty of squirrels. Maybe my robins decided your food is better … certainly more consistent!!

    • Since Robins don’t eat at my feeders I never really pay much attention to them. And now I realize that I haven’t seen any in a really long time either. This one was on my deck railing to get a drink at the bird bath. I’ve only seen them do that on a few occasions. They’ve bathed there once in awhile. And one really brutal spring day when it was sleeting a robin sat on the heated bird bath to warm up. He looked pretty grumpy.

  5. Wow, is that normal? Maybe migrating through? Nice way station you have! And a pretty pic!

  6. I have seen a lot of Robins at Council Point Park the last few weeks, but I think they are just foraging and not migrating. I’ve seen Robins there and even around the neighborhood in the Winter now.

    • I rarely see any, in summer or winter now days. In the spring sometimes I see a flock of them, and they usually build nests around in the summer, but I don’t see much of them.

      • I used to have a yearly battle with a Robin building a nest in the “elbow” of my coach light out front. The last two years it hasn’t done so which is great as I have to put a plastic bag stuffed with grocery store bags to keep it from building the nest over my mailbox and blocking entry out the front door.

  7. I remember Ricky’s mom, Chris, telling me that many robins stay around all year. Seems as though they don’t go out as much though, or maybe we just don’t notice them?

  10. Haven’t seen any robins for about a month now. My sister says they don’t migrate but just change their habits. They’re really good at hiding then if they’re still around.

  11. It looks blue, ok with a little rust color in there too. Lighting is everything isn’t it? It’s really pretty!!

Who knows, maybe it’s Saturday today. Who cares? 🙂 We’re all just in this together.

  12. The past few years the Robins have stayed all winter in NJ, no longer a harbinger of spring! Beautiful capture
