Apparently 11 years ago I thought I was old. Whoa baby. You didn’t know what old was back then. But it IS a pretty funny read, even if I’m the old person in the story.
I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.
You are not old. You are young. I know people in their 90’s who are still cruising the Pacific Northwest on their boats, and/or going camping, maintain their own homes, cut their own firewood. “Old” is partly an attitude. Don’t let that “attitude” get to you. I’m looking at 80 years old and still drive a pickup truck and tow a camper trailer, and do all that other stuff too. And yes I still cut my own firewood with a chainsaw. Sometimes it’s the attitude or misconception that “allows” us to change into “old”. Don’t let that happen.
Ha! Wait till you hit your mid-80s! Iwish I could say I’m still doing all those things Ann is doing, but it would be fiction. I am happy with getting out of bed every day, sitting with our cats, and discussing life with our chickens.

All a matter of perspective, isn’t it?

That was funny and I admit to doing some pretty questionable things sometimes too, even in my younger days and I turned 70 this year. 🙂

I rememeber crying when I turned 50, saying I felt like my mother’s age, how could it be? Now turning 69 I am in total shock at the number.

I’ve always said old is about 20 years older than whatever age you are right now – see how that works? That way you’re never old!
