Reward! Even though I wasn’t very good this weekend…

Katie here!

You were all RIGHT!  My mama finally took me to my park!  I haven’t been there in a really really long time.  Maybe 100 years in dog time.  We couldn’t go in my car because it’s at ‘the shop’ whatever that means.  So when we left the house I went and stood behind the other car, but mama said, ‘No baby, we’re going to take Daddy’s truck!

Driving to the park in style.

Woo Boy!  I get to go in the truck!  I like to do that (I used to be afraid of the truck, but I like it now.  I’m a brave girl.)  I get to stick my nose right in the air conditioning vent!  Not like when I’m stuck in the back and no good air even gets back to me!   When we got to the park I noticed it was the Farmer’s Market!  I get lots of attention at the market so I thought maybe we were going there.

Farmer's Market!

Farmer’s Market!

But my mama said, “No baby, we’re going to walk in your park, and you can sniff wherever you want, no rush!”  Hot dog!  Let’s get going mama!   But you know what?  My mama ended up saying “hurry up sweetie” to me a lot.  She said it was because a storm was coming.  But I think she’s just an impatient sort of mama, you know?

I mean, what’s a little rain?  Right?  Unless you’re the Wicked Witch of the West. Hmmmm.  Now that I think about it, she’s been acting a lot like that witch all weekend, so maybe she had a point.  Anyway, we did get rained on a little, but we still stopped and got a picture together at the overlook.  Mama was very proud she figured out how to do the timer thing.  I was very proud that we could both look at the camera at the same time.

Me and my mama!

Me and my mama!

We had a good time and by the time we got back to the truck the sun was back out and it was hot.  So I’m sleeping on my air conditioning vent at home.  Mama says we have a bigger adventure coming up next weekend.

I’m going to dream about it now.  I can’t wait!

That was FUN mama!

That was FUN mama!

Katie and patience. Not so much

Katie here.

What is wrong with you people?  Why haven’t you demanded my presence on this blog?  You’ve been enjoying my parents’ photos of Maine, egging them on to travel more!  Have you no compassion for me?  The princess?  You realize, don’t you, that while Mama and Dad are gallivanting around I have to go to doggie camp.

Wanna play?

Wanna play?

And let me tell you it’s not so much camp because I know what real camping is!  And I want to go camping again with my Mama but she’s all busy with work and stuff and hardly has time for me at all and I think that is just not fair!

OK, so right after I got sprung from the camp we had a whole bunch of company.  That was fun.  Mama’s brothers and sister and sister-in-law came to stay with us for a few days.  They all thought I was pretty swell and I have to say it was OK to have them around too.  I got lots of attention.

Which is a good thing because as I said my Mama seems to be really busy and ignores me most of the time.  I can only get her attention at night if I bark a lot.  Then she tells me “Katie!  No bark!” and I sigh and go lie down on the air conditioning vent.  I am trying to be a good girl.  I even let her sleep until 6 a.m!

And do you know what I got in return for being a good girl while we had all that company?  I got to go to the groomer today!  GEEZE how much more torture can one poor doggie soul go through?  I don’t really see that the groomer can improve perfection, but if it makes my Mama happy I guess I can handle it.

BUT…

…Mama owes me big time now and I’m expecting a very good adventure soon!  And if I don’t get it there’s going to be no more Ms. Good Dog.  No siree!

She better come through.

That’s all I’ve got to say.

Good night now.

I'm waiting.

I’m waiting.

Katie scores

Katie here.  My mama was going to have me show you around the yard today cause some stuff is really blooming pretty.  But she got busy trying to clean up the basement and forgot.  She even forgot that I was upstairs (I don’t do stairs, it is not princess-like) and she was downstairs for a long time.  But then I howled.  That brought her right up and she took me down there with her while she finished up.  I guess she made a nice bedroom down there but it isn’t really my taste.  I like a king sized bed.  With lots of pillows.  Of course.

But I digress (I get my wandering mind from my mama).  While she was down in the basement doing basement stuff I started barking hysterically and jumping around trying to see out the front window, and my mama could tell I was serious!  So she ran up the stairs and guess what?  I was right!  There had been someone on my front porch!  And the evil mail truck had been in my driveway!  HA!  I scared it away, yes I did, before she got all the way up the steps.  But the mail guy left a box!  For me and mama!

Something smells good!

Something smells good!

Well, we had to open it right away because it was from my boyfriend Reilly’s mom.  And whenever we get a box from her it’s full of good stuff!

I'll share some with you mama. Maybe.

I’ll share some with you mama. Maybe.

Look at all the loot I scored!  OK.  Some of it is for my mama, but it’s mostly for me! ME ME ME ME!  Reilly’s mom sent us some stuff to take on our next camping trip!  Bug spray and treats and food and stuff!  And she sent my mama some beautiful music to listen to on her way to that job thing she goes to every day!  AND a shirt to wear that says she’s a Sheltie MOM!  So everyone will know when we’re camping.  Not that I ever let her out of my sight when we’re on an adventure, but in case she gets lost they’ll know to return her to me!

So I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to Reilly’s mom Bree.  Check out her website, or her  Etsy store.  She makes the most pawsome stuff!  My mama just loves everything there!

Thank you Bree!  And hug that Mr. Reilly for me too, so he remembers he’s mine!

Love,

Katie.

My own cow! Thank you Reilly!

Weekend song

This is the song Katie and I are singing on our drive to an adventure:

Imported Photos 00852

I can do what I wanna do, be who I wanna be
I got no one to answer to, soon as I turn the key
A cash machine, gasoline and we’re outta here
Call it an early weekend, call it goin’ off the deep end
Baby, you and me,we can leave it all behind

I don’t have to be me ’til Monday
Friday, Saturday, Sunday
I ain’t gonna face reality
Three days without punching a time clock
Three nights of goin’ non-stop
No work and all play
I don’t have to be me ’til Monday
Yeah

Thanks to Steve Azar for putting down exactly what we’re thinking.

We’ll tell you all about it soon!

Gonna be fun!

Gonna be fun!

Weeding? Really Mama?

Katie here.  Did you know my mama had 3 days off work?  I expected a GRAND ADVENTURE because of course it’s all about me.  I am entirely disappointed.

Friday night mama put up the tent and said we were going camping.  I love camping, but it was darn cold out.  A princess does not like to be cold, so after we got all settled in the tent I told mama I wasn’t staying out there and I barked and barked and finally she got smart and we went inside to sleep.  Mama should pay better attention to the weather.  I ask you; does a Princess wear plaid?  I think not!

A little chilly

A little chilly

And do you know what she and dad did on Saturday?  They weeded!  I don’t know what that was all about.  They just pulled up some green plants, but they left other green plants.  If they wanted them gone, why didn’t they get rid of all of them?  I think they are fickle.  I tried to supervise them but it got to be so boring that I went inside and took a nap.

I figured I’d need to catch up on my sleep cause that darn tent was still up and I knew my mama would want to camp again.  But you know what happened?  She went to work after dark!  With a pillow and a blanket!  I’ve never seen anything like it, but she said ‘bye bye baby’ just like she does every day when she goes to work and she went out the front door.  Huh.  I waited by the door a long time but I finally just went to sleep with my dad.  Mama didn’t come back from work till the morning, and she came home through the back door.  She said she slept great, but I don’t know how she did that at work.  I’m smelling a scam.  Yes I am.

Well I figured we’d do something exciting Sunday.  But no way!  They were still pulling green stuff up.  I was disgusted and spent most of the day inside napping.  And it was definitely not fair when they went out that evening and got ice cream and left me behind.

Much better. No plaid.

Much better. No plaid.

But I did get to camp with my mama Sunday night.  It was a lot warmer and I did pretty good, I only barked a little bit.  And I got my mama up at 5:00 a.m. so she could fully enjoy her Monday off from work.

Monday mama said she was too sore to weed anymore and we spent some quality time out on the deck.  Plus I helped her put away the camping stuff.  Well mostly I just watched, but I’m sure she couldn’t have put it all away so fast without me.

And then this evening mama took me to my park!!!  That was the best part of the entire weekend!

My field of yellow flowers..ummm...

My field of yellow flowers..ummm…

So all in all I guess I got to do some fun stuff.  But my folks need to focus on me more don’t you think?  Three whole days and all I got was one and a half nights of camping and a walk through fluff?

I think you will all agree that I deserve more.

Pay attention mama!
