Change Is Hard

Weekends with Katie

Last weekend Katie helped me pack up Christmas.

She wasn’t very comfortable with all these boxes on the sofa, especially since they made funny noises when I put ornaments in them.

But she was curious enough to come back and sit on the sofa and watch each time.  She didn’t, however, provide much advice about how to get all the ornaments packed away.

This weekend Katie helped me fill the bird feeders.

She thought this was a lot more fun.

Then we went out into the back yard to play.

That was the most fun of all.

She’s napping now.  All this work wears a Sheltie out.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Are you worn out, too, Dawn? Weekends are great for fun and rest. Sarah and I will get ours on Sunday.

  3. My help usually comes more from Shasta and Lily – Shasta’s help is always very much “in the face”, Lily’s help is just in the middle of everything. Bailey tends to try to avoid getting involved. I can see that Katie does a great job of supervising!

  5. Dogervising is always such tiring work. Reilly does the same thing, watches intently while someone else does all the work.

  7. It’s nice that you have such a good helper like Katie! Do you usually leave your Christmas decorations up way into January? We took ours down this year before the end of December–just because we had help. It already seems like Christmas was ages ago…

  9. Oops!!! Your post just reminded me that I haven’t packed my Christmas Tree yet, LOL!!!
Katie was so calm and lovely, she was keeping an eye on her mom’s work!

  10. OOOH how wrong to have packages with strange sound on KATIES sofa, even if it was for a short while. That is a lot of work for a sheltie gal to get Christmas all packed up! Glad Katie was there to help ya!
