Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Goodnight moon

Katie and I experienced a magical moon one morning not so long ago. It wasn’t quite full, not anymore, but like a flower that’s just past it’s prime it was still beautiful.

The sun, emerging from sleep on the opposite horizon, made the clouds surrounding the waning moon glow in pinks and purples.

And then the clouds began to overtake the moon.

I watched as it silently slipped behind the curtain.

And just like that the day began and the moon slid into an early slumber.

Goodnight moon.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  8. Wow! So beautiful and you were so lucky to spot and click it. Can yo tell me more about the camera you use? Most of my moon photos come blurred and I don’t know why?

    • I felt very lucky to be outside for the few minutes that the moon and clouds were glowing. I’m using a Cannon Rebel. Moon photos are tough. Are you using a tripod? I used a tree trunk to steady my camera the morning I took this. It’s also been edited through Lightroom to adjust the image’s exposures. That brought out the details in the moon which were kind of washed out as the camera was trying to balance the darker sky against the bright moon. Additionally, I usually get my best moon shots in early morning as it’s setting or early evening when it’s just coming up, when there’s less contrast between the moon and the sky.

      • I have never used a tripod and I am also an amateur learner. I have a canon 77D. Not sure if that should be good enough to capture the moon 🙂

        • I’m sure it would be. Try checking out the early evening, but especially the early morning sky and see what’s there. You can crop the photo later, so you don’t have to get it perfectly big. When the moon is less bright (late morning, early evening) you can focus on it better. Let me know how it goes!
