I know for a fact you’ve been missing me, cause I haven’t been able to blog for months and months! OK. Weeks. But it feels like forever!
There are a lot of reasons why I haven’t blogged, most of which have to do with the fact I haven’t done anything fun in ages. It’s not fair. Mama has been gallivanting all over the world.
And where did I get to go?
I got to go to the kennel, that’s where I got to go! I seriously don’t understand why mama thinks that’s an adventure. I mean, while she was climbing mountains in Norway and the Hill in D.C. I was napping in my
cell, um…room at the kennel.
Don’t get me wrong, they treat me fine there, but it’s definitely not an adventure.
So yesterday, when mama got up early and started hustling around I got sort of nervous and went to hide somewhere, hoping she’d forget I was around. But that never works, and it didn’t work this time either.
I ended up in my crate in the car and we drove for almost an hour. I was definitely nervous when she opened the door, but you know where we were?
We were at Deuce’s house!
Boy oh boy, I haven’t seen my buddy Deuce in a long time! This was way better than the kennel!
And then we all went, Deuce, his mom and mama and me, to one of his parks! It’s a perfect little park, just my size and it’s all shade.
Deuce and I spent a long time sniffing stuff, he’d be up front doing the scouting for us, then I’d come along and sniff the good stuff that he marked for me. It worked perfectly.
Of course along the way the moms had to make us pose for pictures. I swear, I try to use my new deafness as an excuse not to follow directions but darn mama uses hand signals so I end up posing for her.
We saw a couple deer in the park, a mama deer and her baby. My mama only got good pictures of the mama deer, after we moved on we looked back and saw the mama licking the baby’s face. It was so cute, but there was too much brush between us to get a good picture. Mama was still glad she saw it through.
After we made one tour of the park I still felt good so we walked around it again. This time we noticed the numbers and we found the number 12 for me, cause I’m 12 years old!
The vet a couple weeks ago said I looked real good for my age and I have to agree I’m fabulous.
So anyway, that’s my adventure, and I’m grateful to my Aunt Karen, Deuce’s mom, for inviting us over to his park and for being patient when I was a little slow.
Though to be honest, it wasn’t always my fault. Don’t forget, I had mama attached to me and she has that darn camera that slows her up all the time. She’s always taking these artsy-fartsy pictures.
Frankly, if the focus isn’t me I don’t think it’s worth taking up the pixels.
Am I right or am I right?
Talk later, your park girl Katie.

so good to see you Katie! beautiful day with beautiful friends! I had 2 cocker spaniels like Deuce

Katie says: “Deuce is the only cocker spaniel I’ve ever met. He’s pretty cool. Bet yours were pretty cool too!”

Horray for a fun day with friends!

Katie says: “It was such a special walk given I haven’t been to any parks in forever! I had so much fun and then I went home and took a long nap!”

That looks like a really nice place for a walk. I think Beckett is deaf now too, he’s only ten, either that or his selective hearing has gotten much worse.
July 28, 2019 at 12:23 pm
Katie has always had selective hearing, but now she sleeps through the doorbell being run, so I’m pretty sure she’s really deaf.

Beautiful Katie! Great to see you and read all about your adventures and non adventures. You look beautiful as always!
July 28, 2019 at 12:01 pm
Aw, Katie–I didn’t realize you were losing your hearing. Good thing your mama can use hand signals for you. Don’t forget to keep her on her toes, though, by giving her the look that says: “What in the heck does that mean?” So good to have you back blogging again. Sounds like you had a great and fun adventure.
July 28, 2019 at 12:25 pm
Katie says: “Yep, for a couple of years now my folks have been noticing that I sleep really deep and they can walk right by me. That never happened in my younger days. And now the doorbell doesn’t even wake me up. Mama says it’s sort of been nice…whatever that means…but since I was already protesting about posing for pictures, now I don’t pay any attention whatsoever!”

You are one smart cookie, Katie!

Katie, we’re delighted you got an adventure in a special park with your friend Deuce! I Dallas have had selective hearing for a while now. Mama says it’s a blessing because I don’t drive her crazy anymore during thunderboom storms and Scary Boom-Boom Day (Fourth of July). I don’t bother racing to the front door either, but gee, it’s never anybody I want to visit with anyway. I like the closeup of your eyes — they’ve very soulful.

Yes, life is easier now that she doesn’t hear so well. Everything is easier except getting her to pose for pictures.

Katie says “Thank you!”

I’m so glad you were able to have a great time with your friend, Deuce! What a sweet mama you have for taking you especially for that. I have 4 granddogs who (whom?) I love very much… I take lots of photos of them when I pet-sit and just visit. I love when they meet me at the door with their doggie smiles, but they are big dogs and I have to watch that they don’t knock this poor gramma over. Haha! Have a lovely and blessed week! Hope you get some treats! 🙂

Katie says having four big dogs running around might be a little bit scary. And she’s enjoying frozen treats this week!

I’m glad you finally got an adventure, Katie. Sometimes moms have other things they have to do, even though it’s not fair to the furry babies. And sometimes it’s nice not to hear all the noises in this world – fewer interruptions to naps.
July 29, 2019 at 12:53 pm
Katie says “I’m definitely napping more and deeper Miss Carol. Mama says sometimes that’s sad and sometimes that’s great, just depends on what she has to get done and when it’s due.”

Shasta sleeps most of the day now too. But then, naps are more important for me these days too.

Katie says she’s sorry to hear about Dakora’s health issues and she hopes you can get it under control soon!
