Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Tonight as I sit out on the deck of the lake house, watching the moon rise, I wish everyone had such a warm, beautiful and safe place to relax.

I wish upon a moon.

I know that many of my friends ‘up north’ are facing their third night of no electricity following a major wind event. I know the temperatures are heading down toward 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-17.77 C) tonight.

I wish that spring could come early for them. That I could somehow share the warmth and color and contentment surrounding me here.

I wish they could all just come down here and soak up the sun. Or sit with me under the moon listening to the waves gently lap against the shore

I wish, not upon a star, but upon the bright moon, that the warmth from here in the South could find it’s way up to the dark and frozen North.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  2. A perfect evening you’re having. I brought out a cushion for one of the deck chairs on the morning room deck this afternoon so I could soak up some of the feeling of spring while it lasts. Heaven!

  3. I felt the same as we sat on our four seasons room/porch with peace in my heart which has evaded us for three years. Beautiful post, Dawn.

  4. Thanks, Dawn. Spring will come for us. If it came too soon, and then we got a late freeze, that wouldn’t be good, so we need to be patient and remind ourselves that it’s been a relatively mild, easy winter.

    • I know….but don’t we always wish that the bits of spring we experience could be the real thing? But every year we are lulled into thinking winter is over and than slammed again. You’d think, after 60 years of this, I’d be less hasty to conclude we were out of the woods.

  5. Love that beautiful moon! We woke up to SNOW. Dallas, of course, loves it, but, even though we really aren’t expecting a lot of it, I’m done with winter. Bring on some Spring!!
